  • Week 1 (August 30 – Sept. 5): various tasks
  • Week 2 (Sept. 6 – Sept. 12): to do, things to read, things to prepare, and things to write
  • Week 3 (Sept. 13 – Sept. 19): writing tasks, reading each other’s work, and our first visit to the garden
  • Week 4 (Sept. 20 – Sept. 26): The Classic of Tea and a tea tasting
  • Week 5 (Sept. 27 – Oct. 3): Community Garden visit and “Debate between Mr. Tea and Mr. Alcohol”
  • Week 6 (Oct. 4 – Oct. 10): TREXLER B01: Assessing the value of sources; picking a topic for a guided independent research project
  • Week 7 (Oct. 11 – Oct. 17): TREXLER B01: Getting to know Zotero; Thursday “writing retreat in class”
  • Week 8 (Oct. 18 – 24): Mid-term, reflection, peer feedback, in-class writing time (mid-term grades due on Friday)
  • Week 9 (Oct. 25 – 31): The Opium War as seen through the Almack Journal
  • Week 10 (Nov. 1 – Nov. 7): Tea in India during the colonial period
  • Week 11: (Nov. 8 – Nov. 14): Tea in Japan, from early to early twentieth century
  • Week 12 (Nov. 15 – Nov. 21): A bit more Japan, and a certain Tea Party in Boston
  • Week 13 (Nov. 22 – Nov. 28): More Boston, and a lot of Turkey/tofurkey
  • Week 14 (Nov. 29 – Dec. 5): Tea in Africa
  • Week 15 (Dec. 6 – Dec. 10): Un-essay week
  • Finals week (Dec. 13 – Dec. 18): Final check in and DONE!
